The Story

This table or floor lamp, sculpture made of ceramic, is embellished with an internal LED lighting. It is available in gold or platinum finish. Behind a contemporary design, this handmade creation is built in keeping with the noblest potter tradition. While the use of gold with earthenware goes back to the 18th century, the idea to use the same technical with platinum has been applied for the first time in the 19th century by a potter from Langeais (France).

The Craftsmanship

First, a perfect sphere is made by the potter turner from a clay ball. The sphere is then reworked on the potter's wheel, in order to refine walls and enhance the shape. This is the time for cutting and latticework according to the drawing, hollowing out each element, burring each edges, before the first bake. The piece is then adorned with a first layer of white glossy enamel, and baked a second time. The gold or platinum luxury finish are applied using a paintbrush, and fixed with a last baking.
