The Story

This suspended light luxury creation is a unique piece, created by our master glassmaker in hand lifted, blown glass without mold according to the “filigrane” glass technique that appeared in the Renaissance during the sixteenth century, a French translation of the old Venetian term, “vetro a filigrana".

The Details

  • Hand blown glass, without mold
  • Filigrane technique
  • High : 62 cm
  • Diameter : 37 cm

The Craftsmanship

The filigrane technique consists in incorporating opaque white colored glass wires into the creations. These rods, called “cannes” are cut into segments of equal size, before being laid at regular intervals on a metal support. Using a blowpipe, the glassmaker gathers the rods on the plate. The glassmaker assembles them to form a cylinder, maintained at a temperature close to a softening setting in order to blow and shape.
